Published: 2015-01-28 08:43:17

On January 21, Well Keshen-902 was completed at a depth of 8,038m, 15m deeper than Well Keshen-7 ( 8,023m) drilled in 2011 at the same structural belt. The drilling cycle of Well Keshen-902 was 368 days, 380 days shorter than that of Well Keshen-7, with the drilling rate up by 50.8%.

Well Keshen-902 is an appraisal well allocated at the southwest wing of Keshen-9 structural high in the Kelasu structural belt, which is 4.3km from Well Keshen-7. It was drilled by the 90002 Drilling Crew of CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Company Limited by using the domestically developed 9,000m electrical drilling rig. During the drilling operation, ROP enhancing difficulties caused by high gravel content in post-salt formations and falling cuttings were addressed, and imported PDC and turbine plus impregnated bits were used at the target beds. Well Keshen-902 has registered three records: by far the deepest onshore well in China, the largest completion depth in a 333.4mm borehole, and the largest setting depth with 273mm casings.
